Brilliant conditions – brilliant performances
Schwerin/Vorbeck – Tomorrow will be another really suspense-packed day in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern! In perfect golfing weather, the players from Sweden and Great Britain in particular had a real battle on their hands today. The Swede Patrik Sjöland is in the lead after Round 2 with a total of 9 under par, one stroke ahead of the trio Phillip Archer (ENG), Van Phillips (ENG) and Jarmo Sandelin (SWE). With an outstanding round of 66, England’s Philip Golding moved into tied 5th place with Gary Orr (SCO) and Mikael Lundberg (SWE). Last year’s winner, Scott Hend (AUS), also made up a lot of ground with an outstanding 63, 9 under par, and is thus now in tied 8th place.
Patrik Sjöland comments: “I’m very happy with my game today. However, I played the par-5 holes quite badly and only made one birdie and one bogey. On this course it is important to get the ball into play well from the tee, and the right distance on the approach strokes is crucial to have good birdie chances.” Tournament Director Stefanie Merchel is in an entirely positive spirit throughout: “We had perfect weather today, and a relaxed atmosphere on the course - the best conditions for great golf. It’s a pleasure to see how our players enjoy this unique atmosphere together. The final round is scheduled for tomorrow and we hope that many golf-loving spectators will take advantage of the fantastic weather to accompany the professio als on their final strokes. It will certainly be exciting!”
The professionals will begin the final round without amateurs tomorrow from 08:00 hrs. onwards. Admission is free, and free-of-charge spectator parking spaces are also available.
